Description

A baked pasta dish featuring large pasta shells filled with seasoned ground beef and cheese, covered in sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, plus more for topping
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta shells according to package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Spread about 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Stuff each cooked pasta shell with the meat and cheese mixture. Arrange the filled shells in the baking dish over the sauce.
  6. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells. Sprinkle with extra mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the sauce is hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
  • For a richer flavor, use part-skim or whole milk ricotta cheese.
