Description

A simple recipe for a small serving of classic macaroni salad.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions until tender. Drain well and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Place in a medium bowl.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, and relish.
  3. Add the chopped celery and onion to the macaroni.
  4. Pour the dressing over the macaroni mixture.
  5. Add salt and pepper.
  6. Stir gently until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  7. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of white vinegar to the dressing mixture.
  • You can add one hard-boiled egg, chopped, if desired.
