Description

A basic recipe for preparing smooth mashed sweet potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into uniform 1-inch pieces.
  2. Place the sweet potato pieces in a large pot and cover them with water.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Drain the potatoes well.
  6. Return the drained potatoes to the pot.
  7. Add the milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
  8. Mash the potatoes until smooth using a potato masher.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar during the mashing process.
  • Use heavy cream instead of milk for a richer texture.
