Description

A simple recipe for classic ground beef sloppy joes with a tangy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Spoon the meat mixture onto the hamburger buns. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Serve with pickles or coleslaw for added texture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
