Description

A simple recipe for ground beef cooked with orzo pasta in a creamy tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in diced tomatoes (with juice) and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Stir in orzo pasta and dried oregano. Cover the skillet and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to your taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or ground sausage for the ground beef.
  • For a richer flavor, use low-sodium beef broth.
