Description
A simple recipe for steaming broccoli seasoned with fresh garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head broccoli
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Cut the broccoli into small, uniform florets.
- Mince the garlic cloves finely.
- Place the broccoli florets in a steamer basket over boiling water.
- Cover the steamer and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
- While the broccoli steams, heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant; do not let it brown.
- Remove the steamed broccoli from the heat and place it in a serving bowl.
- Pour the garlic oil mixture over the broccoli.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Toss gently to coat before serving.
Notes
- For brighter green broccoli, briefly plunge the cooked florets into ice water before draining and seasoning.
- You can substitute butter for olive oil for a different flavor.
