Garlic Butter Sausage Pasta

Description

A simple and flavorful pasta dish featuring sausage, garlic, and butter sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 pound pasta (fettuccine or penne recommended)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve about 1 cup of the starchy cooking water before draining.
  2. While the pasta cooks, brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off excess grease.
  3. Add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  4. Add about 1/2 cup of the reserved pasta water to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until a light sauce forms. Add more pasta water if the sauce seems too dry.
  7. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the fresh parsley.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use sweet or hot Italian sausage based on your preference.
  • For a richer sauce, substitute heavy cream for half of the reserved pasta water.
