- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour to create a roux. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth until smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring often. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the salt and pepper.
- Cool the gravy completely before storing.
Notes
- You can store this gravy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently on the stovetop, adding a splash of water or broth if it becomes too thick.
