Description
A simple casserole made with ground beef, potatoes, and a creamy sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 cups thinly sliced raw potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, mix the soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooked beef and onion mixture.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Pour half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and beef mixture.
- Cover the dish with foil. Bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and sprinkle the cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup if desired.
- Use Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes for best results.
- For a richer flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder to the soup mixture.
