Description
A simple recipe for creamy orzo pasta flavored with garlic and Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not brown the garlic.
- Add the orzo pasta to the saucepan and toast for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Season with black pepper and salt to your taste.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
- You can add a pinch of nutmeg for depth of flavor.
