- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Place the chopped chocolate in a medium, heatproof bowl.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not boil.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes.
- Add the butter and vanilla extract to the bowl.
- Whisk the mixture gently until the chocolate is completely melted and the fondue is smooth.
- Transfer the fondue to a small fondue pot set over low heat to keep warm while serving.
Notes
- Serve with fruit like strawberries, bananas, and apple slices.
- Marshmallows and pound cake cubes are good dipping options.
- If the fondue becomes too thick, stir in a small amount of warm milk or cream.
