Description

A straightforward recipe for making smooth chocolate fondue for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium, heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer around the edges. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the butter and vanilla extract to the bowl.
  5. Whisk the mixture gently until the chocolate is completely melted and the fondue is smooth.
  6. Transfer the fondue to a small fondue pot set over low heat to keep warm while serving.

Notes

  • Serve with fruit like strawberries, bananas, and apple slices.
  • Marshmallows and pound cake cubes are good dipping options.
  • If the fondue becomes too thick, stir in a small amount of warm milk or cream.
