Description

A simple, one-pan meal combining ground beef, macaroni, and cheese sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with liquid), beef broth, macaroni, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and milk until the cheese melts and the sauce is creamy.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for the beef.
  • Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce with the broth for deeper flavor.
