Description

Simple recipe for soft, flavorful garlic bread rolls.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (105-115F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, plus 4 tablespoons for topping
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and 1/4 cup melted butter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough. Divide it into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a small roll. Place rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover the rolls and let them rest for 20 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375F (190C).
  8. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 4 tablespoons of melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.
  9. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
  10. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra soft rolls, cover them with foil for the first 10 minutes of baking.
  • You can add a pinch of dried oregano to the butter mixture for more flavor.
