Description

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped chives.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk all at once. Mix gently with a fork until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat or roll the dough to about 3/4 inch thickness.
  7. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
